Courage Kindled on 25 Jul 2021
My mother passed away at 7:21 pm on 25 Jul 2021. She was surrounded by her family and pastor at the time her courage kindled. For those unfamiliar with the reference, here is a like to the Celtic poet John O’Donahue: A New Beginning
Her memorial service will be on 17 August 2021 at Reno First United Methodist Church on the corner of First St and West St. At 10:00 Pacific Time. The service will be in the Methodist tradition and will have a Celtic influence. Moms favorite colors were yellow and orange. She also loved anything with a butterfly. Please wear anything that would remind you of her.
Following the memorial service, she will be interned at Mountain View Cemetery in a private service. Her plot is right next to her brother Jay, Father Walter, and Mother Miriam, so she will never be alone. She will be available for tea starting Wednesday 18 Aug at 0900, but you will have to do most of the talking.
There will be a reception starting shortly after at approximately 12:00 but we have not finalized the details yet. Expect an update to this blog when we do. The reception will be in the Irish tradition and it may just last all afternoon. We will coordinate for Uber rides home for anyone that forgets to bring their spare liver.
Madre is survived by me, her son Jason. Sharon, her niece, and her grandchildren. She is also survived by the class of ‘64 from Wooster High School, the first graduating class. Their group of friends called “The Wooster Girls” are a strong, caring, and gregarious group who have been her rock of support for over 50 years.
